Ready for SVP...

Bring it on!

I reserved the hotel room yesterday for 10/14-10/19. I bought plane tickets; one set for me (10/14-10/19) and one set for J (10/16-10/19). We're both really excited. And nervous.* And excited.

Now all we have to do is register.

Here's to hoping nothing goes wrong, since the plane tickets (totaling $800) are completely unrefundable.

*It's a bit scary to go somewhere for a few days to hang out with strangers who know a billion times more stuff than you do about practically everything having to do with the reason you're there in the first place.

I'm a little scared too, Amanda. It's scary to think that, at this juncture, Scott and I are the only dinophiles in Alaska (the two state paleontologists retired long ago) and I am blown away daily by what I read on these paleo blogs. I like to think of myself as fairly up-to-date on my dino research (thanks in large part to all you science bloggers) but it's going to be so scary meeting people at the conference. I remain confident in my ability to draw the damn things though, so that's some consolation.

Hahaha...I wish you could present dinosaur ART at SVP. :-)

Au contraire, mon frere! Pat Druckenmiller is up yonder! He has at least a passing interest in dinosaurs...

Well, you can...not as a talk, of course, but you can buy time at an exhibit booth. A few paleoartists (mostly sculptors) do this each year, although the costs are getting prohibitive, as I understand it. More paleoartists just tote portfolios around and show people outside of the talks!

Hahaha...maybe I'll bring some restorations and skulls. :-)

I'm aware of Pat. I don't know how long he's been up here, though. And he's in Fairbanks, which means he must be a little wacky. :-)
